Sellers, you’re competing with new construction and model homes on a regular basis that are dropping their prices every month. You need to make the Best First Impression!
Turn on every single light in the house
Buyers like it light & bright! Make sure you remember to turn the lights on (inside & outside) when you leave the house before a showing. This is especially important in the evening hours.
Have soft music playing
It's always nice to have relaxing music playing when potential buyers view the home. It can set a calm mood for the showing and make them feel "at home".
Light a candle or have a nice smell in the house
Deodorize, neutralize, and freshen - a pleasant smell goes a long way. Make sure, however, that you don't have a strong, overwhelming scent overtaking the home!
Don’t stay for any showings
Buyers feel more easy going without the sellers present. They can become intimidated and awkward if you hang around the home while they're trying to view it.
Don’t leave items out on the countertops or floors
Your home needs to be as clean as possible. No one wants to see your dishes on the kitchen counters or trip over a toy on the floor!
Don’t leave your pets in the home
Even though we love our furry friends, its definitely best to take them out during the showings. A barking dog or a lurching cat may scare them or make them feel uncomfortable.
_______
And most importantly, talk to me about how to stage your home before putting it on the market. Buyers are picky and you only get one chance to make a great first impression!
